The castle, which has become a symbol of Bodrum, was built between the years of 1406 -1523, and is currently being used as the Museum of Underwater Archeology.
Located on a rocky area between two ports, the castle has many towers, such as the French, Italian, German, English and Spanish Towers, which have been named after various countries. With the Turkish bath built in it at the end of the 19th century, the castle, which was previously being used as a dungeon, gained Ottoman characteristics. At present, the Turkish bath, Amphora Exhibition, Eastern Roman Ship, Glass Hall, Glass Wreck Hall, Coins and Jewellery Hall, Carian Princess Hall, the English Tower, dungeon and torture chambers are being displayed as the museum’s collection at this Museum of Underwater Archeology.
